Zella Ponzel

     Zella Ponzel, 71, of Peoria, passed away at 3:26 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Sharon Willows South in Peoria.

     Zella was born in Peoria on September 28, 1937, a daughter of Emil and Margaret (Johnson) Ponzel.

     She is survived by her brother, August (Violet) Ponzel of Edwards and sisters, Catherine Bennett of Peoria and Freida Ponzel of Manito. Her parents preceded her in death.

     As a child, Zella enjoyed jumping rope, double dutch, drawing and dominos. She was baptized, confirmed and a member at St. John Lutheran Church on Smithville Road in Bartonville.

     Graveside services and interment will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oak Hill, with Pastor Michael Liese officiating. A private family visitation will be prior to services.

     Memorial contributions may be made in Zella’s memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brimfield. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home in Peoria.
